This month we celebrate six amazing years of The Skin to Love Clinic in St Albans, we can’t quite believe that during this time we’ve treated 6000 equally amazing patients! From skin tightening, stubborn pockets of fat, dull skin and pigmentation to fine lines, wrinkles and skin tags we’ve seen them all and helped our clients to deal with the conditions. So, with the number 6 in mind, we thought we would share our top 6 treatments and personal skincare tips from the Skin to Love team.
Byonik – this non-invasive NASA technology is the world’s first laser to rejuvenate, repair and protect skin from inside the skin cells. Perfect for: improving the signs of ageing; reducing redness; improving dehydrated, dull skin; promoting skin healing and reducing inflammation.
Profhilo – the winner of the Aesthetic Awards Product Innovation of the Year 2016 the ground-breaking Profhilo, is a slow-release hyaluronic acid (HA) which is strategically placed onto the skin and gradually disperses into the treated tissue. Perfect for: lax, crepey, thin, sun-damaged skin on the face, neck, décolleté, arms and hands.
Thermage® CPT – one of the most popular nonsurgical skin tightening treatments on the market today, Thermage ® CPT is a unique radiofrequency treatment that gives a smoother, tighter, youthful look and feel. Perfect if you’ve spotted a few areas of ageing on your eyes, face, neck or body. We’re particularly proud that Jane Lewis our MD trains practitioners across the UK and Europe on how to use Thermage® CPT.
Wrinkle relaxing Injections – possibly one of the best-known cosmetic treatments for softening and reducing lines and wrinkles is Botox™. Botulinum Toxin, its proper name, is a naturally found protein which when injected into the area of concern works by softening the tone of the treated muscles and intensity of the muscle contractions which create lines and wrinkles. At The Skin to Love Clinic this procedure is only performed by our medical practitioners, and rest assured we don’t go for the ‘frozen’ look, our results are natural!
Cristal – is a non-invasive way to fight the fat! Using technology that has been developed based on evidence that fat cells are removed from that body when exposed to cold temperatures this fat freezing treatment is perfect for treating arms, love handles, abdomen, saddlebags, legs and knees. Remember fat freezing is not a weight-loss treatment but is designed to sculpt and remove stubborn pouches of fat to give you a more streamlined, svelte-looking figure.
Soprano Ice – Ditch the razor switch to laser! And the Soprano ICE laser is the one we love here at the Clinic! This is a clinically proven method of laser hair removal which is perfect for all skin and hair types, even tanned skin can be treated, which is not the case with other laser hair removal technologies, it’s significantly less painful and can be used all year round.
And this month the Clinic welcomes SuneKos, an injectable therapy to improve signs of skin ageing such as saggy, crepey skin and Winner of the Safety in Beauty Innovation and Pioneering award 2019. We’re sure it will quickly join our top six treatments list!
Jane Lewis: Protect, protect, protect. Use a daily sun cream which has a minimum of 30SPF; I always tell my patients, no matter what age, if you can only do one thing for your skin, it’s this.
Kerri Lewis: I wear an SPF45 every day, all year round to protect my skin from premature ageing, pigmentation problems and to reduce my risk of skin cancer. Additionally, every 3 to 4 months I have muscle relaxing injections in my jaw because I grind my teeth at night. As a result of this, the muscles in my jaw become very tight, bulky and painful. The treatment relaxes those muscles and has stopped the pain and tension I used to experience. It’s been somewhat of a game-changer for me. I’ve also found that continued treatment has de-bulked and slimmed my jawline. Oh, and just to add to my list; I also had laser hair removal many years ago now. It has been absolute bliss not having to shave every other day! I have the occasional maintenance treatment at Skin to Love just to keep on top of any odd hairs that have regrown, if and when it’s needed.
Dr Sharon Crichlow: As someone who suffered from acne, I understood the benefits of using a topical vitamin A [often known as retinol or tretinoin] and now that I’m slightly older and my acne is under control I’m still benefitting from using it due to its anti-ageing actions on my skin. To rejuvenate my skin and improve its hydration, tone and texture I’m considering having regular Byonik® laser treatments. This rather special non-invasive NASA technology revitalises, repairs and protects skin from inside the skin cells.
Natalia Ostrowska: I have Melasma, which doesn’t bother me a huge amount as I can cover it up with make-up but I am considering the Obagi treatment which will help it from getting worse and is also good for if you have ageing or dull skin as it restores and produces a more even-toned, younger-looking skin by penetrating deep into the layers of the skin and targeting concerns at a cellular level. I have also tried the latest addition to our treatment portfolio; SuneKos. I had the treatment because I’m starting to notice a hollowing under my eyes [tear trough] and I noticed an improvement straight away.
Charlotte Whitehead: I often suffer from hormonal breakouts. The way I manage it is regular glycolic peels to help stop blockages and retinol in the evening which keeps the outbreaks at bay and helps a lot with the general appearance of my skin. I also make sure that I use a hydrating serum daily to help with any dryness and an SPF to protect my skin, which is especially important because I use retinol. I have had Regenlite pulse dye laser treatment for a particularly stubborn breakout and will definitely consider having these more frequently if I need help getting on top of my breakouts.
Lara Reed: I always remove my makeup thoroughly in the evening and make sure I follow that with my eye cream (Revision Skincare Teamine complex) and a hyaluronic acid serum to keep my skin hydrated. Talking of hydration, I religiously drink the recommended amount of water for my overall health as well as for the benefit of my skin! I keep out of the sun and use the Revision Skincare Intellishade SPF45 every day as my protective moisturiser.
Let’s not forget our fab reception team…
Morag McDonald: As I suffer from rosacea, I have found that Byonik really works well for me. It greatly calms down the redness on my face. I love that afterwards my skin is super hydrated, and the antioxidants protect my skins cells for up to one month after the treatment!
Louise Brown: I haven’t had a chance to personally try all of the treatments yet as I only joined the Skin to Love team quite recently but one treatment I’ve really enjoyed is the glycolic peel as it removed my dead skin cells that were dulling down the look of my skin and gave me back my glow.
We’ve had an incredible journey and we wouldn’t have been able to make The Skin to Love Clinic the place it is today without our brilliant in-house team and of course our wonderful clients. Thank you!
