We’ve had an amazingly busy year here at the Skin to Love Clinic, so in a quiet moment just before Christmas we took some time to review the last twelve months and picked out some of our highlights. We’d like to share our best moments so here’s a recap of our diary from 2018.
January – We began the New Year celebrating that the Clinic has treated some 3,891 patients since we opened our doors in 2013!
February – Madonna was the name on our lips this month. When Jane Lewis was contacted by The Guardian newspaper to comment on a story that the Queen of Pop was using instruments resembling forks as part of her facials! As Jane told the paper, the reason the forking works is that it increases the blood flow to the skin as well as encouraging lymphatic drainage. The article went on to look at other weird sounding homemade treatments that do actually have beauty professional equivalents, with spoons, toothbrushes, cling film and even Pepto-Bismol coming under Jane’s microscope. We also said goodbye to the lovely Su Rushby, our independent nurse prescriber, who decided to retire, but the good news is that Sue will be popping into the Clinic every now and then when we need an extra pair of hands.
March – We reviewed our patient testimonials, we collect feedback using Phorest Salon Software, and we were delighted to find out that our patients still rate our service at least 4 out of 5! The Clinic has been ranked in the top 3% of all clinics, salons and spas in the UK and Ireland for patient satisfaction and has won the Phorest Client Experience Awards for the last 4 years. And in the Best of Business of the Year Awards we were voted the Top 100 UK Businesses; Business of the Year St Albans and Harpenden and were Highly Commended in the Skincare category.
April – We analysed our treatment portfolio and in keeping with our reputation of using market-leading and revolutionary treatments we started the hunt for something new – more on that in the diary entry for October.
May – We were thrilled to welcome Natalia Ostrowska, nurse prescriber to join our team. Health wellbeing and self-care are Natalia’s passions and she also trains, assesses and mentors for a leading UK aesthetic training provider. And we celebrated, aesthetic practitioner, Laura Kingham’s second year work anniversary with the Clinic, it’s been a busy year for Laura who is also studying for a BSc in Health Sciences.
June – The awards season begins! We kicked off the season finding out we were finalists in the Inspiring Hertfordshire Awards in the Business of the Year category this was closely followed by the announcement we were also a finalist in the Family Business United Awards in the Family Business category.
July – And so it continued! We found out that we were finalists in the National Family Business Awards for Best Small Business and Family Business of the Year categories. Later in the month, we were delighted when Kerri Lewis won the Business Women of the Year award at the SME Hertfordshire Business Awards 2018. A real triumph for Kerri and recognition of the effort, commitment and dedication that has made The Skin to Love Clinic the place it is today.
August – We were so excited when Kerri was invited onto Radio Verulam the radio station for St Albans to chat to the hosts of Verulam in the Morning; Outspoken about her Business Women of the Year Award win and the business and revealed that she is now through to the finals of the SME National Business Awards.
September –Hip, Hip, Hooray it’s our 5th Birthday! The lovely Morag McDonald joined the team as receptionist and administrator – so our team has grown and now we are 7! Our consultant dermatologist Dr Sharon Crichlow celebrated her fifth year working at the Clinic. In other news, our clinic manager Kerri Lewis tied the knot and married the lucky Rob.
October – As September was so busy, we celebrated or birthday a few weeks late. Nonetheless, we did it in style by adding Byonik the world’s first laser to rejuvenate, repair and protect skin from inside the skin cells to our portfolio. What made us smile even more is that we were one of three clinics in the UK to offer this revolutionary treatment. The celebrations didn’t stop there we were also finalists in the Best Business Woman Awards in the Health and Wellness and Customer Service categories.
November – More celebratory fireworks when we found out we were Finalists in the Hertfordshire Business Awards in the Customer Service, Family Business of the Year and Small Business of the year categories. We launched the Skin to Love Finance option which provided our clients with the opportunity to spread the cost of treatments.
December – In the news! The Clinic was featured in Cosmopolitan in a review of anti-ageing treatments. We also wrote a case study based on one of patient’s treatment journey with Byonik which was published in the Aesthetics Journal. Our work with Byonik was also featured in Woman’s Own. We attended the SME National Business Awards were Kerri was a finalist for the Business Woman of the Year award and we had a fabulous time at the Aesthetics Awards Gala final where we were up for the Best Clinic South of England award. Emma Foster, aesthetic practitioner celebrated her 3rd year at the Clinic, before joining us Emma worked with some award-winning product brands and travelled the world providing 5-star beauty treatments with Steiner on board cruise ships. We’re glad that she gave up the high seas and joined us!
As we close the doors on 2018, we’re pleased to announce we have treated 4,615 patients in the last 5 years.
We would like to say a very big thank you to all our wonderful clients and we wish you a happy and prosperous New Year and look forward to welcoming you to the Skin to Love Clinic in 2019.
