Getting ready for that Little Black Dress at Christmas

With long days, more time spent outdoors and plenty of sunshine (ideally!), it can seem easier to maintain a healthy lifestyle during the summer months. But when the shorter days of winter creep up on us we can start to feel sluggish, with dark mornings and afternoons decreasing our motivation, central heating and harsh weather impacting our skin, and a busier social calendar making it harder to stick to a healthy diet.

But there are things you can do now to ensure that, when the festive season gets into full swing, you’ll have the best accessory for your favourite LBD – glowing skin and body confidence.

Diet, exercise and body contouring

When you can snuggle up in multiple layers and hibernate at home, the motivation to hit the gym or eat well can rapidly disappear. But a few simple switches can help fit a healthy lifestyle into your schedule this winter. Try swapping a longer run or gym class for a HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) session, delivering an efficient and highly effective workout– something you can easily fit into a lunch break.

Find ways to increase your fruit and vegetable intake that work with busy lifestyles – prepare a store of veg-packed winter stews for your freezer, and fend off the urge to comfort eat between meals with a cup of warming soup or stewed fruit.
