Liposonix

Liposonix is an FDA approved treatment which allows us to truly customise the treatment for you and your concerns by letting your practitioner control precisely how and where the HIFU energy is delivered. The ultrasound energy targets subcutaneous fat without harming the surrounding tissues or skin; this energy destroys the fat in a uniformed and predictable manner because of its focused and high-intensity characteristics.

This is designed to be a single treatment however some patients may decide to have additional treatments if they wish to boost their results even further. The results of Liposonix are permanent; the fat cells that have been treated are permanently removed from your body.

Many areas can be treated with the Liposonix treatment, including:

• Thighs

Are there any side effects of Liposonix?

The Liposonix procedure has a good safety profile and at The Skin to Love Clinic we are able to draw upon a huge wealth of expertise and experience as one of our practitioners is the trainer to other medical practitioners using this laser in the UK and Europe.

Consultations are an important part of the treatment process in allowing you to understand the treatment and to establish if the benefits of the treatment are outweighed by any possible side effects. During a consultation, your characteristics, such as your medical background, the amount of unwanted fat and desired treatment area, will be assessed. Your medical practitioner will be able to discuss whether this treatment is appropriate for you, as well as any suitable alternative treatments.

Your practitioner will discuss any possible side effects, questions you may have and any aftercare you should adhere to prior to you having treatment.

How does the Liposonix treatment feel?

The discomfort level of this fat reduction treatment is mild to moderate; during the procedure you may feel sensations of cool and warmth, tingling or scratching. Some areas of the treatment site may be more uncomfortable than other areas; this is normal.

How will the treated area look after the Liposonix treatment?

Redness, mild swelling and bruising in the treatment area can occur post procedure. These effects naturally reduce within a few days, often hours following the treatment. However, bruising will last for as long as a bruise usually lasts for an individual. We recommend wearing loose, comfortable clothing around the treated zone immediately after your session to improve your comfort further.

When will I see my results from the Liposonix treatment?

As with all treatments, results and how quickly you see them differs between each individual as we are all unique. In our experience, most patients see results between 4 and twelve weeks.

What happens to the fat after it’s treated with Liposonix?

Your body gradually and naturally gets rid of the treated fat cells safely by your forager cells which consume the treated fat cells and naturally eliminate them. Rigorous clinical testing demonstrates that there is no impact on liver function and will not migrate to other areas.

Will I lose weight after the Liposonix treatment?

This is not designed to be a weight-loss treatment. Liposonix fat reduction is designed to sculpt and remove stubborn pockets of fat to give you a more streamlined, svelte-looking figure.

During weight loss, the number of fat cells remains the same, but they shrink in size. The Liposonix HIFU technology permanently removes some of your fat cells in the treated area.

How many sessions of Liposonix will I need?

Liposonix is designed to be a single session treatment for those who are close to their ideal weight and who have stubborn pockets of fat they wish to remove.

Some of our patients opt to have repeat treatments in the same area if they are not quite at their ideal weight or if they simply want to boost their results further. You can discuss this fully with your practitioner and make a treatment plan during your consultation.

What’s the difference between Cool Sculpt and Liposonix?

Cool Sculpt treatment uses cryolipolysis technology, also known as ‘fat freezing’. We also use cripolipolysis technology in our Cristal treatment. The Liposonix treatment uses completely different technology, known as High-Intensity Focused-Ultrasound (HIFU).

During your Liposonix treatment your practitioner passes the treatment head over your treatment areas to accumulate a therapeutic level of HIFU energy to destroy your fat cells. During a cryolipolysis treatment a set area of fat is gently vacuumed by a treatment head and cooled to destroy your fat cells.

Both technologies are non-invasive and permanently destroy your fat cells.

What happens if I put on weight after my Liposonix treatment?

If you gain weight after you’ve been treated any remaining fat cells in the treated area, and generally throughout your body, may swell and increase in size. We always recommend that if you are considering this treatment you should make sure that you are at a stable weight and follow a healthy lifestyle.
