In an industry that is currently poorly regulated, you are likely to see a variety of standards when it comes to non-surgical aesthetic treatments. This includes consultations. Some people may offer you a treatment without a prior consultation, some may offer free consultations, and others may charge for a consultation.
I’m not going to mince my words when I say that it’s a huge red flag if someone offers you treatment without consulting with you first.
Let’s find out why.
At our Hertfordshire-based clinic, we will never offer a treatment without consulting with you first. Your consultation is a fundamental part of your treatment, your safety, your results, and achieving the best skin and skin health.
Education is the key no matter where you are on your journey. They say: ‘knowledge is power’ and the more you know about your treatment options, those who are treating you, and the standards of the clinic you’re treated in, empowers you to stay safe and satisfied with your treatment outcomes.
We believe that for us to reach the very best outcomes, education must be a two-way street; you are the expert on yourself, and we are the experts in our fields. We see the consultation as a way of both parties to learn and come together to build an open and honest relationship for you to achieve your goals safely. Understanding your specific skin concerns is crucial in this process.
At Skin to Love, we’re not here to sell to you during your consultation; our team are not incentivised in this way. We’re here to educate and share our expertise. We prioritise your care, treatment outcomes, and safety; informed decision-making forms the foundation for this. See more about The Skin to Love Clinic difference.
Arranging a Skin Consultation
At our clinic, we offer each client a tailored service and that starts right here, at the time of booking. Our dedicated Front of House team will want to learn a little more about you at the time of booking to guide you smoothly through the process, ensuring that you’re with the right practitioner who has the skills and knowledge in the specialism you want to discuss.
Please be aware that we take a deposit at the time of booking and charge for our consultations. Our fee supports the quality that our patients receive; the ethical practitioners with quality qualifications; experience; skill; knowledge; industry-leading technology; legitimate products and treatments; and our Save Face and Care Quality Commission-regulated standards and care.
At the time of publication, a consultation for all concerns excluding dermatology, and melasma, are £25. It is unlikely to change in the foreseeable future, but we do recommend confirming the price of your consultation at the time of booking. We reserve the right to change this without notice or updating this post.
Rest assured that we don’t see your consultation as an opportunity to sell to you. At The Skin to Love Clinic, a skin consultation is what we believe it should be; a no-pressure, educational tool that you can use to help make informed choices.
It’s All About Your Skin Concerns
A few days before your consultation, we’ll send you some digital forms to complete before your arrival. As I said earlier, you are the expert on you, so we’ll need you to educate us on you! This will include sharing some of your medical background, skin type, and skin concerns so that we can consider your safety when making treatment recommendations, and filling them out before arriving, will ensure that we make the best use of our time together.
Skin Analysis on Consultation Day
During your consultation we’ll want to know what you’re looking to improve and the type of result you’d like to achieve, as well as other things such as your lifestyle and if there’s an event you’re preparing for. Candidness will allow us to manage your expectations and suggest skin treatments that are safe for you and will give you the best outcome within the boundaries you place, whether you are dealing with dull skin or other concerns. This time is about forming a transparent relationship with each other so that you get the best recommendations and, ultimately, the best outcome from any treatments that you may choose. We will also consider your skin type to ensure the treatments are suitable and effective for you.
Please be aware that we may touch on treatments that, in our experience, will give you the best outcome, even if you mention that it’s not a route that you wish to go down. This is to ensure that we have shared our knowledge and experience with you fully, often allowing patients to confidently rule a treatment option out, or in some cases, reopen the option, having gained a better understanding of it.
Know that we will not pressure you into any treatment nor will we recommend treatments on their potential for financial gain. See more about the Skin to Love approach.
You may still have some questions about having a consultation, so I’ve popped a few frequently asked questions below. If you have any questions that you’d like to directly ask us then please reach out, we’ll be more than happy to help.
