The staff at The Skin to Love Clinic have partnered with the National Medical Weight Loss Programme (NMWLP) to offer medical support and advice to patients who would like to lose weight, following training and advice from Dr Matt Capehorn, who has many years’ experience in treating obesity.
We have established an NMWLP clinic within our existing clinic.
In England, almost two-thirds of adults are living with excess weight for their height (BMI greater than 25kg/m2); this puts those people at risk from premature death and associated disease.
A 2019 health survey carried out in England stated that the total number of people overweight and obese was 64.3% of the population, with men being more likely to be in these categories than women (67.2% compared to 61.5%). This trend is rising.
One in eight people are morbidly obese categorised as a BMI of 40 and above.
It is estimated that, following current trends, by 2050 90% of adults in the UK will be overweight or obese.
We will help to educate you in basic nutrition and the principles of weight loss.
We monitor your weight and blood pressure, and carry out a body mass analysis at each visit and support you to achieve your weight loss goals. For patients with a BMI of 30 and above they may benefit from prescribed medications that can help to reduce the cravings that often cause people to break a diet.
Doctors and nurses can use UK-licensed and FDA-approved medications to assist with weight loss.

Is it safe?
The short answer is: yes, it’s very safe. It has been fully trialled, tested and prescribed successfully on the NHS in the UK and fully FDA approved in the USA. It is proven to reduce your appetite and sugar cravings to help you lose weight.
Do I need to exercise?
Yes! Exercise will be helpful in the long run to get you healthier, but it does not mean you need to spend countless hours in the gym!
Physical activity has many more benefits than just burning excess calories – it improves your health on many levels including the release of ‘happy hormones’.
Find an activity you will enjoy. To start, aim to be active at least 5 days a week for 30 minutes each day. Activities can be as simple as brisk walking, cycling, dancing, swimming, doing yoga or Pilates, or simply marching on the spot.
Start slow and aim for 10,000 steps every day, even if this includes marching on the spot at home while watching TV.
Resistance training (bands, weight training) supports muscle mass which will have positive effects on metabolic rate after the desired weight loss. This can be added later on when you are comfortable with the 30-minute activity for 5 days a week.
Prior to attending the clinic, you will complete a health questionnaire to assess how we can support you; when you attend, your initial consultation will take 30 minutes.
Cost of consultation and monthly followup consultation: £25
Supply of medication per month: £250
