Stretch Mark Treatment

Stretch marks

Stretch marks sometimes referred to as stria or striae, are tears or rips in the skin often caused by a stretching of the skin. These long, thin marks are often purple or red to start with and then they tend to gradually fade to a white-silver colour. This is an extremely common concern that most of us will experience at some stage during our lives.

Anybody can develop stretch marks and their severity and cause can be affected by several different factors. Many people notice stretch marks occurring during puberty, during pregnancy or after rapid weight gain or weight loss. Some patients may also notice the development of stretch marks if they are using some types of medication or if they have certain medical disorders.

With intervention, such as treatment, your stretch marks may be improved to the point that they no longer bother you; redness can be greatly improved, as can the size of the marks and the quality of the skin. Some of the options we have for stretch mark removal at The Skin to Love Clinic include:

  • Regenlite – This laser treatment is primarily used to improve redness associated with your stretch marks. Regenlite can also be used to firm and improve the quality of the skin on and around your stretch marks.
  • Fraxel – A pioneering, market-leading, fractional laser, Fraxel triggers your skin to replace your old, damaged skin cells with new, healthy cells. This can result in the fading and softening of skin imperfections, such as stretch marks, as well as improvement in the quality of your skin.
  • Derma FNS – This extremely popular, safe and effective micro-needling treatment is often used to improve the appearance of stretch marks as it stimulates your damaged tissue to replace itself, improving those unwanted skin imperfections and overall skin texture.
  • Platelet Rich Plasma – Also known as PRP, this treatment naturally regenerates your skin by stimulating a surge of your own rejuvenating and repairing growth factors directly in the damaged, stretched area of skin. PRP can be used either by itself to treat your stretch marks via tiny injections into and around your stretch marks or during/after another treatment such as Fraxel Dual or Derma FNS to further boost your treatment results.

If you would like to discuss treatments for your stretch marks, please do not hesitate to contact our friendly team who will happily arrange a consultation for you.
