We know that maintaining a healthy regime of a balanced diet and regular exercise is super important in modern-day living. Sometimes though, no matter how much we try, there still remain those stubborn little pockets of fat which just won’t go away despite the intense HIIT workouts and strength training sessions that we endure at the gym. And they’re always in places where we just don’t want them! Body contouring is an advanced non-surgical solution to treat unwanted fat pockets in different areas of the body and is carried out by experienced practitioners in our clinic. There are a few important things to know if you’re considering this treatment, read on for our essential guide to the facts.
1. It’s fat loss, not weight loss
Body contouring is NOT a weight loss treatment. It is carried out on unwanted areas of fat which cannot be removed by just diet and exercise and aims to improve your shape without the need to undergo invasive surgical procedures.
2. Choose the right treatment for you
During your initial consultation, we will assess your needs and advise you as to the correct treatment for you. Liposonix is a way of permanently reducing unwanted fat. It is non-invasive and achieves long term results by permanently destroying fat cells with HIFU technology. Also known as fat-freezing, Cristal is our other popular body sculpting technique. During the hour-long treatment, it exposes the unwanted fat cells to very cold temperatures, thanks to the medical cryolipolysis technology, whilst gently vacuuming the treatment area to destroy them.
3. A new treatment for double chins
One of our latest fat removal treatments is Deso which can treat the body and your face, perfect for those double chins! This is another fat reducing treatment which specifically targets excess fat around the chin and neck area. Fat-dissolving injections of deoxycholic acid are administered to the area to break down the fat tissue which is then safely eliminated in the body via the lymphatic system.
4. Be patient for the results
The results from body contouring may not be as dramatic as those from invasive treatments such as liposuction or a tummy tuck, as they are designed purely to shift smaller, stubborn fat pouches, but there are many advantages. Body contouring doesn’t have any of the associated risks or downtime as invasive surgery means that patients can return to normal life on the same day after treatment. Depending on the type of treatment you have, it can take between three to six months before you start to see full results. So if you’re thinking about body contouring treatments in order to prepare for a special event, it’s really important that you begin treatments in plenty of time. We will discuss this with you during your consultation.
5. It’s important to follow the aftercare
These are all designed to be single-session treatments. Some of our patients do choose to have more than one session to increase the impact of their results. Sometimes, it’s possible to combine treatments too. Once the treatment is complete, it’s vitally important to maintain your healthy weight and lifestyle as remaining fat cells in the treated area can and will swell if there is any weight gain or a big change to your eating patterns.
