Skin laxity can happen for several reasons; commonly we see patients who are noticing skin laxity from the ageing process, after weight loss, and after pregnancy.
It’s important to note, that if you’re noticing sagging skin after losing weight, non-surgical treatments may be an option but bear in mind that if you have *excess* skin rather than skin that’s sagging, crepey, and/or wrinkled, you may be better off exploring surgical options as non-surgical skin tightening may not be appropriate for you. Have a look at the ‘before’ images below to get a better understanding of what non-surgical skin tightening options can improve.
I’m going to explain a little more about the types of non-surgical skin tightening treatments we offer at our skin clinic and how they may be able to help your skin. Let’s delve into the three most popular skin tightening treatments at our Hertfordshire skin tightening clinic…
Skin Tightening With Radio Frequency
Having offered radio frequency skin tightening since 2013, suffice to say, we love radio frequency, specifically our Thermage treatment. One of the reasons why we love Thermage is because not only can we treat and tighten the skin on your face, neck, and body… we can safely treat the skin ON your eyelids, not just around your eyes.
Being able to treat your eyelids is a big deal because not many treatments can safely treat this area and because the eyes and eyelids are one of the first areas that we notice unwanted changes; think lids that are becoming hooded or heavy, crepiness, and makeup not sitting how it once did.
Thermage radio frequency skin tightening works by warming the deep layers of your skin to trigger a response whereby your skin produces lots of new collagen. Why is collagen important? Collagen gives your skin its strength and structure.
Thermage radiofrequency treatment may be ideal for tightening, firming, and softening wrinkles on the eyes, face, neck, and body. This treatment is loved by us because we can safely treat the eyelids, not just close to the eyes.

Skin Tightening With HIFU
HIFU skin tightening, similarly to radio frequency, creates heat in the treated tissues, however with HIFU skin tightening we can target different depths of your tissue depending on your particular concern; the mid dermis, deep dermis, or SMAS. Treating the mid and deep dermis will stimulate collagen to help smooth and firm your skin, whereas treating the SMAS (the collagen-dense mesh that covers muscle) will have a lifting effect on the tissue.
HIFU skin tightening may be ideal for those who want skin tightening and lifting, as well as help softens wrinkles on the face, neck, and body.

Skin Tightening With Thread Lift
The Thread Lift treatment is different to both radio frequency and HIFU because it is not reliant on your body making its new collagen or elastin. The way the Thread Lift works is a medical practitioner will place medical-grade threads into your skin and a technique is used to tighten these threads which in turn tightens and LIFTS your skin.
The Thread Lift may be ideal for those who want skin LIFTING in areas such as the jawline and lower face. It’s better suited for more advanced signs of ageing in comparison to HIFU or radio frequency, however, we’ve seen beautiful results when we’ve combined the Thread Lift with both radio frequency and HIFU.

What Do You Think of This Skin-Tightening Before and After Images?
Co-founder of The Skin to Love Clinic, Kerri Lewis, comments:
“Non-surgical skin tightening, be it Thermage, the Thread Lift, or HIFU, can offer natural but noticeable results which are ideal for those who don’t necessarily want others to know that they’ve had anything ‘done’. The aim of non-surgical treatments is to look like a refreshed, best version of you, without the dramatic results of surgery.
As you can see from these before and after photos, it’s not just your face or eyes that can be treated. Treatment on the body is also popular here at Skin to Love. The abdomen is a really popular area to treat post-pregnancy when the skin has lost it firmness, you’re seeing crepiness, and when the skin doesn’t bounce back when you move or stretch it, demonstrated here in some of these before images. Additionally, skin tightening AND stretch mark reduction is a popular combinations for the stomach.
My suggestion to anyone wanting to explore skin tightening is to book a consultation with a practitioner or skin clinic that can offer you multiple treatment options so that they can match you with the best ones for your goals and skin. This way you can consider all the treatments that may be best for you and make an informed decision.”
