I’m guessing that if you’ve landed here, you’re in your 20s and looking to get the best out of your skin and, possibly, are forward-thinking about what you can do NOW to keep your skin looking and feeling healthy and beautiful in the decades to come.
Our 20s is an amazing time to lay a really good foundation for our skincare because we have time, and collagen, on our side. Of course, in our 20’s things aren’t always rosy for our skin. It’s very common to experience skin diseases such as adult acne and perhaps even the first few signs of rosacea; I experienced both of these, at the same time, which was a real gift. In hindsight, I wish I had known more about the importance of improving my gut health and striving to reduce systemic inflammation as much as I could then. What’s happening on the inside very much has an impact on our skin health. Besides at-home, and daily lifestyle efforts I use the Slimyonik treatment to supercharge my health and wellbeing to help my skin, but I’ll talk a bit about that later. Anyway, enough about me, let’s talk about YOU.
What you do now and the skincare habits you form genuinely have an impact on your skin both now, and in years to come. There’s a lady in mind who often pops into our clinic and is in her 60s. Not. that. you’d. know. it. Her skin is perfection. Yes, genetics will play a role in this but her very fair, Celtic complexion doesn’t have a sunspot on it… not even the sneakiest sign of creepiness is creeping in. She swears by always having used a high factor SPF daily and, admittedly is extremely cautious in that she never leaves the house without a hat to shade her face from the sun’s UV rays, which are around us 365 days a year if it’s raining, snowing, and in the depths of winter.
So, this leads me to my first point. If you’re going to do anything at all for your skin, it’s to wear a daily SPF on your face and neck. You can buy ones specifically for your facial skin and use them as your moisturiser. You can even get SPF-suitable if you have acne and are worried about making it worse. I can categorically say, you will be wasting your time and your money if you use other skincare products and skin treatments but omit this most important step. SPF isn’t very glamorous or something that you’ll find trending because it’s not new or particularly exciting. It’s like brushing your teeth; something that you just need to do.
Once you’ve got your SPF down, you may be interested in skin treatments to improve what you’re already working with. I’m going to tell you a little about some of the most popular skin treatments with our clients who are in their 20s here at our Hertfordshire skin clinic. Of course, this isn’t specific guidance for you, just a flavour of some of the treatments appropriate for your age group and that our clients love. Here goes…

Chemical Peels 101
The word chemical is pretty off-putting, don’t you agree? Less so when you realise that even water is considered a ‘chemical’ because a chemical is any substance that has a defined composition E.G. H2O. Now that we’ve established that, let’s dive into what these different chemicals are and how they help your skin-I’ll put links in for further reading because there’s a lot to say about these fabulous chemicals, which I’ve covered in detail in previous blog posts.
Let’s start with one of our most popular skin peels… the glycolic peel. Glycolic acid is part of the AHA family (alpha hydroxy acids) and was originally derived from sugar cane (a delicious chemical IMO) but is now synthetically replicated for skincare. You may have seen this ingredient a lot in skincare products, this is because it’s a great exfoliating ingredient and helps to create a smoother, more even-toned, brighter skin. During a professional skin peel, glycolic acid is used in higher concentrations to give you a stronger treatment with more dramatic results than at-home product use.
Chemical peels aren’t just used to brighten the skin. Depending on the type of ‘chemical’ used they can target acne, oiliness, redness and some rosacea symptoms, through sun damage and hyperpigmentation. I’ve broken down the different types of peels and what they do for your skin in this comprehensive chemical peel guide.

Clear + Brilliant Brilliance
Used to target enlarged pores, poor texture, hyperpigmentation, and some types of scarring…as well as a seriously powerful preventative treatment for signs of skin ageing the Clear and Brilliant laser has won several awards and titles for its abilities: the gold standard for pore refining by the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery in 2012, as well as ‘Best Low-Downtime Laser’ by New Beauty in 2022.
See what a Clear + Brilliant laser treatment looks like in this quick Insta post.

Inside Out Skincare with Slimyonik
I touched on the Slimyonik treatment earlier on and, although not technically a direct skin treatment, this pressure-therapy treatment supports your health and, when it comes to your skin, improves its nutrient uptake, circulation, and crucially for those of us with acne or rosacea in particular- reduces inflammation in our body and improves your gut health; things that every single one of us can benefit from, no matter what age we are or what our skincare concerns are.
The great thing with Slimyonik is that you can have this treatment at the same time as having one of the other treatments mentioned the perfect way to improve your wellness AND skin. You can see what a Slimyonik treatment looks like here.
There you have it, some of our most loved skin treatments by our clients in their 20s. What I’d love for you to take away with you is that SPF is your number one skincare product now and forever. I would it if this information has further cemented your proactive mindset when it comes to your long-term skin health. Know that some of the things that you do now, you may not notice earth-shattering changes from right now because you might not need a lot of correction… but have faith that healthy skincare habits are something that future you is going to love you for. You are in a fantastic position, one that many of our clients would kill for; a position to maintain and preserve the skin health you have with some fantastic skincare ingredients and skin treatments available to you.

Which Facial Treatment is Best For Me?
+Determining the right facial treatment for your skin can be challenging, but it’s crucial to address your specific needs. The beauty and aesthetic industry offers a range of advanced skin treatments that cater to various concerns. To help you make an informed decision, we’ve compiled a list of the top advanced skin treatments you should consider:
Skin Peels:
Skin peels are gentle and non-invasive, depending on the specific peel ingredients. They exfoliate the skin’s surface, revealing a fresher and cleaner complexion. Ingredients like glycolic and salicylic acids have antimicrobial properties that can combat acne and balance oily or dry skin. It’s essential to use SPF following skin peels to protect your skin from increased sun sensitivity.
No Needle Mesotherapy:
No needle mesotherapy is ideal for clients with a fear of needles or a microneedling treatment. This non-invasive procedure combines high-frequency waves with mesotherapy ingredients to rejuvenate and improve skin integrity. It allows for the absorption of active ingredients, blood flow, and detoxification. This can help those with clogged pores looking for an anti-ageing treatment to help rejuvenate skin cells.
When choosing the best skin treatment for you, consider your skin concerns and consult with a professional to determine the most suitable option whether it is low-level light therapy or laser hair removal. At The Skin to Love Clinic, we offer a range of these advanced treatments to address your unique needs and help you achieve healthier, radiant skin.
Which Skin Treatments Do You Offer?
+At Skin to Love Clinic, we offer a diverse range of advanced skin treatments to effectively combat various concerns. To address fine lines and wrinkles, our top recommendations include Botox, wrinkle-relaxing anti-ageing injections, dermal fillers, and Derma FNS (Derma Pen). These treatments are designed to reduce wrinkles caused by muscle movement and provide immediate rejuvenation.
For sunspots and pigmentation issues, we recommend the Fraxel Dual laser treatment, which specifically targets sun-induced pigmentation, such as sunspots and freckles.
To address crepey and thin skin concerns, we offer injectable treatments like Profhilo and Sunekos. These treatments regenerate the Extracellular Matrix, hydrate, and plump the treated tissue, resulting in improved skin quality and anti-ageing.
To tackle sagging skin, we provide Thermage Treatment and Thread Lift procedures, both non-surgical options that can significantly enhance skin firmness and tightness.
For loss of facial volume, our dermal fillers strategically replace lost volume, restoring a youthful anti ageing appearance to your skin cells.
To brighten dull skin, consider our skin peels and Byonik treatment, which can improve skin tone, and collagen production and enhance your skin’s natural glow.
Lastly, for specific skin concerns like enlarged pores, our Clear + Brilliant low-level light therapy treatment is the gold standard, effectively addressing concerns like uneven pigmentation, fine lines, and enlarged pores. Our goal is to provide tailored treatments to achieve a rejuvenated and youthful appearance.
Which Treatment is Best For Clearing Dead Skin Cells?
+At Skin to Love Clinic, we offer a diverse range of advanced skin treatments to effectively combat various concerns. To address the removal of dead skin cells, our top recommendations include skin peels and the Byonik skin treatment. These treatments are designed to deeply exfoliate the skin, promoting the removal of dead skin cells, and skin rejuvenation. Skin peels come in different variations, allowing us to target specific skin issues such as wrinkles, sun damage, redness, and acne scars. Byonik, on the other hand, is a cold laser treatment that hydrates, plumps and protects the skin while improving microcirculation and lymphatic drainage. Both options are highly effective in eliminating dead skin cells and promoting overall skin health, leaving you with a brighter, healthier, and more youthful appearance whether you have sensitive skin types or oily. These are both considered an effective skin treatment for helping your skin cells with collagen production for anti-ageing and reducing acne breakouts.
