So, seeing as they both rejuvenate and hydrate, what makes these treatments different from each other? The original Profhilo treatment is a hyaluronic acid based injectable. What is Profhilo?

As mentioned, the Profhilo injections introduce extremely pure hyaluronic acid into the skin tissue. This hyaluronic acid has gone through a unique thermal process and as the product spreads through your skin it starts to trigger bio-remodeling as it goes; the product is very honey-like in consistency, just so you understand the difference between this and the gel-like consistency of dermal filler. I also think that knowing the consistency allows us to imagine this gorgeous product slowly enveloping and drenching your skin in hydration as it spreads.

What’s bio-remodeling? It’s a process where sagging, ageing skin literally begins to remodel itself. The results of this aren’t seen immediately; your full results can be seen after your final session.

What is Profhilo Structura?

Whilst the original Profhilo concentrates on skin hydration, smoothness, and firmness, Profhilo Structura targets the underlying structures of the face.

Profhilo Structura is the very latest evolution in facial rejuvenation-specifically created to address more advanced, deeper, structural signs of facial ageing. Structura reaches the superficial fat pads under the skin helping to contour and lift the areas that have lost natural volume over time.

Structura is composed of hyaluronic acid-much like the original Profhilo treatment-only it is more concentrated in the Structura treatment. You’re getting more of the good stuff and it is placed deeper in the facial tissues than the original Profhilo is.

Whilst the original Profhilo focuses on hydration and elasticity, Profhilo Structura goes beyond hydration; the effect Structura has is called ‘lipolifting’ as it restores ageing subcutaneous fat cell receptors and a deep firmness. It targets underlying structures helping to restore the natural shape of, and support to, your mid-face resulting in a gently lifted, more defined and contoured appearance.

Structura is an ideal treatment for those of us who would like a refreshed, firmer look without traditional fillers. What’s the Difference Between Profhilo and Filler?

If you know anything about dermal fillers, whilst reading this you may be wondering if the hyaluronic acid (HA)used in Profhilo is the same and the answer is no.

Traditional fillers are thicker than Profhilo and Profhilo Structura; although varying in thickness, fillers are designed to add volume to specific areas. The lips and cheeks are common areas to use dermal filler, but there are many other areas that can be treated. In contrast, both types of Profhilo focus on regeneration of the tissue, be it to improve skin quality or fat, rather than filling specific wrinkles or adding volume to pronounced facial hollows.

If you want to get into a bit more nitty gritty about what the different products are made of, then this next bit is for you. If you find that your eyes glaze over when things like this are discussed, then you might prefer to jump on over to the next subheading.... Don’t worry, I’ll never know.

All three products Profhilo, Profhilo Structura, and most dermal fillers are made of Hyaluronic Acid. So, what’s the difference?

The HA used for both Profhilo treatments goes through a very unique thermal (heat) process which stabilises the high and the low weights of the HA molecules without using chemical cross-linking agents, which is generally the case for traditional fillers.

This special stabilisation process is called NAHYCO technology. This is an important process for Profhilo because it allows the HA to remain fluid so that it spreads evenly throughout the treated tissue. We would not want dermal filler to do this, we want filler to remain in the precise area that it’s been put.

As the original Profhilo spreads it triggers collagen and elastin stimulation and drenches the skin with deep hydration without altering your features or adding volume to specific areas.

Structura also uses the NAHYCO technology for its hyaluronic acid, but it has a higher concentration of HA compared to the original. This means that it can give additional support to the structure of the face, allowing it to subtly lift and contour without altering your unique features in any way. Structura still spreads like the original, just slightly less so, and it’s placed deeper than the more superficial original.

Simply, the HA used for dermal filler treatments is designed to stay put and add volume to the treated area. Profhilo HA is designed to spread out and regenerate as it goes. 

Profhilo is delivered via tiny injections with a needle, Profhilo Structura is delivered by a canular, and dermal fillers can be delivered by either injection or canular depending on what we want it to do and where it needs to sit in the tissue.

Profhilo and Profhilo Structura Cost

As always, the cost of your treatment may vary depending on where you are in the UK. There may be a difference between the Profhilo cost and Profhilo Structura cost at your clinic, however, at our Hertfordshire skin clinic the Profhilo Structura cost is the same as the original Profhilo cost: £650 for a full, 2 session treatment. Each session is spaced approximately one month apart.
